1.      Vice Admiral MP Muralidharan, AVSM, NM, took over as Chief of Personnel on 31 Aug 09. A Navigation and Direction specialist, he is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Navy on 01 Jan 1975.  He is a graduate of Defence Service Staff College, Wellington.

2.      The Flag Officer has held many significant Operational and Staff appointments at various levels. After being promoted to the rank of Captain in 1996, he has held the appointments of the Naval Adviser to CNS, Commanding Officer of a front line Destroyer, Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet and the Naval Attaché at the Embassy of India, Moscow.

3.      On promotion to Flag rank, he has held the appointments of Flag Officer Sea Training, Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command, and Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra and Gujarat Naval Area, prior taking over the reins of the prestigious Indian Naval Academy as the first Commandant.  The Flag Officer was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral on 18 Feb 09.
