A person who has served in any rank whether as a combatant or non combatant in the regular Army, Navy or Air Force of the Indian Union and has the following qualifying service:-

 

Released before 01 Jul 68 - No minimum qualifying service required.

 

Released between 01 Jul 68 to 30 Jun 87 - A continuous period of not less than six months after attestation.

 

Released between 01 Jul 79 to 30 Jun 87 - A continuous period of not less than six months after attestation if discharged for reasons other than at his own request, otherwise five years.

 

Released after 30 Jun 87 - Released after earning pension (Service/Medical/Disability) or released on completion of specific terms of engagement with gratuity or as a result of reduction in establishment.

It has been decided to revive the policy of issuance of Identity cards to all Gallantry awards winners of the Indian Navy.

 

In order to issue such identity cards, application on the prescribed form, duly signed by the officers/sailors along with two copies of their latest pass port size photographs are to be forwarded to NHQ(DPS) through the respective Administrative Authorities and CABS in respect of officers and sailors respectively.

 

Retired officers/sailors are required to apply in similar manner, through DESA/NHQ.

ISSUE OF IDENTITY CARD TO DEPENDENTS OF EX-SERVICEMEN
(EXTRACT OF NHQ LETTER PS/1318 DATED 24 FEB 98)
 

Aim of Issue. Dependent Identity Cards are issued to the dependents of ex servicemen to avail medical/canteen facilities and other concessions which are applicable to them from time to time. Dependents identity card is not an acceptable pass for entry into any Defence Unit.

 

Eligibility. Spouses/widows and dependent children of Naval pensioners are eligible.

 

Authority for Issue. The Commanding Officer of a commissioned naval establishment is authorised to issue the dependent identity cards to the retired officers and sailors after verifying their records.

 

Procedure. Retired personnel are to apply for dependents identity cards as per the format given later.

  • Officers are to apply to NHQ/DOP(OA&R), who will forward the application duly verified, to the unit as indicated in the application.

  • Retired sailors and their dependents are to apply to CABs, who will forward the application to the concerned unit after verification

Validity of Dependent Identity Card. In case of war widows/widows of pensioners the Identity Card is of a permanent nature and remain valid till she remarries. The Identity Card of spouse of ex-servicemen is also of permanent nature and would necessitate change only if divorced.

Dependents Identity Cards of the children of ex-servicemen are valid for a period of five years and are renewed thereafter for another five years subject to the following:-

  • Sons - attaining the age of 25 years or on ceasing to be dependent which ever is earlier.

  • Daughters - till unmarried.

Fee for making cards. A fee of Rs.5/- per card is charged for issue and renewal of fair wear & tear of identity cards. War widows are issued cards free of cost. In addition a sum of Rs.25/- is charged for as a fine for first loss and Rs.50/- for the second loss of identity cards. No identity card is issued on the third loss.

KSB Identity Card
 

Defence personnel are advised to make KSB identity card immediately after retirement. This I card is pre-requisite for availing the benefits of welfare schemes under the "Armed Forces Flag Day Fund".

 

For this purpose they are required to fill registration form in duplicate at the Record Office at the time of their release from service. One copy of this form alongwith three copies of stamp size photographs and discharge/service certificate are required by ZSB of the place where ESM is finally intends to settle down, for making I card.

Check Off List For Medical Re-Imbursement Claims

 

Retired naval personnel while forwarding claim to KSB/INBA are advised to check up that the following requirements have been met and requisite documents have been attached along with their application:-

 

Original bills and cash receipts in support of medicines purchased for the treatment/operation duly countersigned by the hospital authorities.

 

Photocopy of Hospital's admission and discharge summary/prescription slip.

 

Whether the case was referred by Military Hospital? If so, a copy of Military Hospital's letter referring the case to civil hospital.

 

The details of financial assistance if any received.

 

Whether re-employed or not? If so, the details of medical facilities being provided by the employer.

 

Photocopy of Ex-Servicemen Identity card issued by Zila Sainik Board.

 

If a civil pensioner, the details of medical facilities being provided by the civil authorities to their pensioners.

 

Whether you are a member of AGI/Air Force Insurance Medical Scheme? If so, forward a photocopy of AGI/Air Force Insurance Medical Scheme Card. (j) All photocopy of the above documents should be attested.

 

Individual application requesting for financial assistance.

 

Reasons you have not reported to Military Hospital for referring to case to civil hospital.

 

 
50% CONCESSION ON AIR TICKET FOR RETIRED DEFENCE PERSON
 

Sahara Airlines provides 50% concession on air tickets to any destination within the country for ex-servicemen. Application for availing this concession is to be made on a prescribed form which are available with airline office.
